From: RED::WINS%"" 9-JAN-1997 16:04:53.16 To: WHPVAX::JADB CC: Subj: FInal comments on P10 Jane, the P10 data can now be finalized and when you are ready sent to SAC. Below are my contributions towards the "chief scientist response to DQE" which should be added to the data report. Also, please make the suggested changes to the bottle quality words made by Aoyama. Terry Final Comments on DQE report of P10 data by T. Joyce After reviewing the DQE comments on the P10 data made by M. Aoyama, we have some comments and have taken some actions to modify the data. The cruise report has been corrected to reflect this. For stations in the range of 52-58, while re-calibrating the CTDSAL using the SALNTY data, two additional bottle salinities were flagged. The flag for ws bottle 8 in station 51 was changed to 3, as was the ws bottle 4 in station 52. Other bottle flagging suggestions made by the DQE are acceptable. Salinity Fit: Stations 51 to 58 were refit as a group. There appeared to be a definate shift between stations 55 and 56. The group was therefore split and fit it two groups, stations 51 through 55, and stations 56 through 58. As shown below: STATIONS 51-55: Fit for both slope and bias PASS No. = 6 St.#, P, T, C, COEFF. >GOOD 1 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 -.52794979E-02 5.80 2 0.00 0.00 0.00 1.00 0.10063114E-02 0.401E+05 N= 160 AVE= -0.25091E-14 STD. DEV.= 0.23504E-02 This new fit was used to rescale the data, new *.CTD files were created and the sea file s51t58.sea (which the WHPO merged into the full cruise sea file) has the newly scaled ctd salinity values added in, otherwise it should be the same as the previously submitted sea files. Files transmitted contained temperature in the IPTS-68 scale, but were converted at the WHPO to ITS-90. CTDOXY data have been flagged near the bottom of various stations (see list below) due to slowing of the instrument and poor flushing of the oxygen cell. The end of the questionable oxygens would end at the end of the file or cast (max depth). --------------42621B3252F--
