Data Notes

All of the data in this collection are in netCDF format in compressed files.
Files are organized by the name of the person who provided the data. Each
directory has two data files. The file named *.gz contains only profile
data. The file named *_TRJ.zip contains all of the locations of the float 
while it was at the surface. Occasionally, good locations were not available
but these records have been included for the user who wishes to use the 
times and drift speeds to infer locations.

Caution

It is not known what quality assessment procedures have been applied to 
most of the data on this disk. It is, not possible to guarantee that all
errors have been detected and either corrected or flagged. It is the
responsibility of the user to review the data and information to 
determine its acceptability for their application.

with extensions .htm which are designed to be viewed with an Internet browser. 
There are thirteen directories whose contents are explained below.

clarke: Contains ddata provided by Allyn Clarke
davis: Contains ddata provided by Russ Davis
document: Contains documents describing what is known about each data file,
     as well as code tables, and a netCDF primer.
freeland: Contains ddata provided by Howard Freeland
gould: Contains ddata provided by John Gould
graphics: Contains graphics used by more than one html page 
      in the collection.
koltermn: Contains ddata provided by Peter Koltermann
molinari: Contains ddata provided by Bob Molinari
owens: Contains data rpovided from Breck Owens and Kara Lavender
riser: Contains ddata provided by Steve Riser
schmitt: Contains ddata provided by Ray Schmitt
schott: Contains ddata provided by Fritz Schott
summary: Contains images that protray where and when the data were collected.
vertes: Contains ddata provided by Peter Vertes
