Information about the Riser Data General Information * Most of the floats were deployed as part of the ACCE and so measured only temperature and pressure. There were a few APEX floats. * Both temperatures and pressures were calculated from the "counts" that were sent ashore from the float. * The APEX floats have active buoyancy controls to attempt to keep the ascent rate to about 8 cm/s. The R1 floats have no active buoyancy controls and so the ascent rate is faster, measured to be 15 cm/s. Descent rates for both types are not controlled. * Information about the float is available in the pcode variables. These include the following. (See the codes list in the documents section.) CSC1 - the name of the originator of the data PBV$ - battery voltages PSP$ - pressure at the surface DDB$ - deployment date DLT$ - deployment latitude DLO$ - deployment longitude PIV$ - internal vacuum recorded PRK$ - intended parking depth PBS$ - piston position PP2$ - piston position at the surface WMO$ - WMO number CNV$ - controller board IST$ - the type of float (R1 or APEX). R1 measure T and p only. APEX use a Seabird SBE41 sensor for measuring salinity
